I am a 42 year
old woman, in excellent health however all of my adult life I have
suffered from various problems with my leg joints.
As a child and teenager I developed various problems with my
knee and ankle joints for which I received treatment, including
surgery, into my mid- twenties.
As a result of these problems I have been left with INeak and
painful knee joints as well as bursitis, which is inflammation of
the joints, in my hip:). Because of lack of proper use of my legs,
my hamstrings shortened INhich resulted in me not being able to
straighten or lock my knees properly. This in turn leads me to bend
and lift using my lower back instead of my legs thus I often get
sciatica and other lower back problems. These problems were
compounded by a weak ankles where the ligaments on the outside of
these joints pull outwards instead of being straight.
On the whole these problems are fairly minor and merely cause
me some restriction in movement when it comes to physical activity.
Six months ago I was introduced to Dayan Qi Gong.
The improvements have been so gradual that they are easy to
over look. Although I do not yet have full mobility in my joints
they have improved considerably and I anticipate further improvement
in the coming months, for example, six months ago I did not have
enough movement or strength in my knee ioint~: to allow me to squat
now I can do this albeit for a short period of time. With reflection
I reabed that I have not been bothered with pain in my hips for some
weeks and I feel stronger in general.
I would also like to add that by nature, I am a rather tense
person prone to seeing my glass as half empty instead of half full.
After training I feel energized, relaxed and have a generally more
optimistic outlook, in other word Qi Gong seems to raise my sprits
and is making me a happier person.
I believe that, providing I discipline myself into regular
training routine, it will provide me with many more benefits,
physically and emotionally, in the future.
